Sapiens Layout Design

In the original pitch for Sapiens, Marck had his own bedroom that was a converted cage, but we didn't want to take him away from the lab so we decided to re-convert it back into a cage in the lab.

Francis' lab was originally an Oxford-esque libarary, this was one idea for how Marck's cage would fit into that space--set up so he could watch Francis work.

We slowly downgraded from an Oxford library with a cage to a community college laboratory with a kiddie corner. The lower design is closes to what we ultimately went with. -- I colored these sketches at a later date using my favorite color designs.

The top six are various color designs inspired by community college labs and classrooms--we looked particularly hard at labs built in the 70s trying to make the space look old and cheap. What a change from the rich Ivy League look we started with!
