Sapiens 2nd Poster - National Geographic Parody
Sapiens is about a super intelligent gorilla who yearns to be a scientist--while the first poster design for this senior thesis film was meant to tease the story, the second was to tease the character(s)! Since I researched Koko the Gorilla during pre-production, I decided to include a spoof of her National Geographic cover
I originally created 3 rough drafts for poster designs. While not colored, I thought for sure my team would go for the 2nd one--but everybody loved the 3rd!
This is the National Geographic cover that inspired my poster--photographic credit? Koko herself! Her selfie game was strong.
For the final poster design I replaced the flowery header from Nat Geo's cover with chemical compounds to match our science theme. The names listed here are the names of team members at that time.
Some team members asked after my coloring process so I've included this step-by-step process!
