Animal Studies - Gorillas

In preparation for my senior film, which starred a gorilla, I practiced drawing gorillas, familiarizing myself with the way their bodies work.

Unfortunately the local zoo doesn't have any gorillas so all images were from photo reference.

For these drawings I took photos of gorillas and practiced toon-ifying their expressions, trying to figure out how I wanted to translate a gorillas features into our animated character.
